Painting in East Lake
A golf club suburb that became a town
The Atlanta Athletic Club opened East Lake Golf Club in 1904, and East Lake was incorporated as a town in 1908. A road built in 1912 from Ponce de Leon Avenue to the club gates made it easier to reach, and lending through the East Lake Land Company helped houses go up.
Older homes here have deep porches, wood trim and windows that need careful scraping and priming; pre-1978 paint is handled lead-safe. Newer houses on rebuilt lots need less prep and more attention to finish.
East Lake is the easternmost neighborhood in the city, close to Decatur and Kirkwood, and an easy drive from our Glenwood Avenue office.
